The first battle of the Tre Monti was fought from January 28 to 31 1918 while the second battle took place on 30 June 1918. Two reasons: one of military order, the reconquest of a larger space in which Italian troops could handle no more then forced between the enemy and the overhang of the Val del Brenta; and one clear of moral order, pushed the Italian high command to a certain accuracy of preparation of the offensive. The grassy humps North of Col del Rosso, and near Casera Melaghetto, are still punctuated by thousands of craters.
