Historical-naturalistic-Archaeological

The presence of man on the Asiago plateau, has ancient origins. The marks left by the ancestors are clearly visible to the eyes of those who observe.

The Val D Assa is a unique environment for the rock formations of the area and for the stone carvings that there are scattered here and there in the rock. Along the way you will encounter the particularities of the area comunciando with the "bear pit", quarry where back in 1939 were found remains of Ursus speleus -cave bear.

The vegetation, especially green, was formed initially by an afforestation of spruce effected after the great war and then by a broadleaf forest which is well adapted to the area.

Even the rock is charming, got to "Schaff Kugela", you can admire the great job that water, wind and frost make selectively on the rock of gray limestone to form a sort of shed.

Proceeding along the path, the vegetation changes becoming a beech forest that is mixed with other plants like Rowan, whitebeam, willow and hornbeam with downy oak.

Interesting the path that runs along the Valley of the Ghelpach proceeding along the way you get inside of the Val d Assa and shortly afterwards to the graffiti of Romita. This is one of the most important and oldest graffiti all over the plateau. From here towards the path of Sant Antole you get to graffiti of Tunkelbald (dark forest) that make up the largest group of petroglyphs and known.

The ascent will take place along the path to the right which leads to the village of Canove from where we started.
